I think it is worth it for more accurate modelling. On the GeForce issue I think you are right in the sense that the DCC hack actually decreases game performance because it tries harder to show everything right. I will change my recommendations accordingly. I see from your posts that I should have gone for more memory. If this mobo isnt available I think my second choice might actually be an Gigabyte GA-7VTXH+ VIA 266A or an ABIT KR7 (VIA 266A). I dont want the ABIT KG7 (AMD 760) because of bad capacitors. ![]() I would have adviced him to buy Leadtek but I cant find them in Denmark. The only other 735 maker I could find in Denmark was Chaintech which in my experience is even worse. Remember he is not a veteran computer assembler. I dont want to go for ECS because although they make nice motherboards they are much too often DOA. I would like to see some before and after benchmarks.Thx for the feedback. I prefered a much more 'consistency' between games, as I never know what games I will be playing. Either it was fastest in a game, or it is much slower, or at worst, crash the game. However, I am current using a GF3 because when I got my GF3, ATI's driver was bs. If one has some I would be most interested to read. But I havent got any benchmark in hand proving how good it is speedwise. There is no question that a 8500 will look sharper than a GF3. But that rule of thumb does tend to stay true, but not always true.An example of that is, Matrox G400 only has a 360MHz RAMDAC, and yet, not a single GF3 or a 8500 can match its quality in sharpness. What I can see in the last few generations of Nvidia card is that the quality are generally improving. ![]() RAMDAC speed doesnt have direct correlation as to how sharp the image is. It really depends on what the quality of each of the card. Really? You've had first hand experience with them?Mine:quote:AWadvs-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 52.81DRV-07 Weighted Geometric Mean = 11.15DX-06 Weighted Geometric Mean = 14.18Light-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 3.425MedMCAD-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 16.10ProCDRS-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 24.43Duron 95032mb Radeon LE (180/180, using latest 8500 drivers)WinXP Pro CADie's:quote:AWadvs-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 80.09DRV-07 Weighted Geometric Mean = 14.38DX-06 Weighted Geometric Mean = 20.86Light-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 6.404MedMCAD-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 25.05ProCDRS-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 26.26Athlon Thunderbird 1000, 256MB 143MHz SDRAM, nVidia Quadro2 Pro (GeForce2 hacked with SoftQuadro, Det 14.20) I think that's pretty damn close myself, and the 2d quality likely makes up the difference.Other scores (a lot of 8500 stuff) in this thread CADie looks for a new video card.
